If you hadn’t yet realized, I love being out on the water! A friend was visiting from out of town last week and we, along with my oldest daughter Madison, dropped the Jon Boat in the water and headed out for some early shrimping. We put the boat in at the Pole Yard and navigated our way through the Santee River to a secret spot where we hoped to catch some shrimp and maybe a crab or two.
As you can see below, the early morning paid off! After we got the boat on the trailer, I called home to ask if we could get some water steaming for Frogmore Stew – a mix of corn, potatoes, shrimp and sausage – but the real treat would be the few crabs we caught. To make this even better, it was the last day of the Eat Carolina Food! Challenge so we ate local….and very well!

Good Food, Family and Friends there’s nothing better Chef. I think you need a post of Madison and how she is the only little kid who would try a raw oyster.
